ARBUCKLE RIDGE Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles
WHY WE LOVE IT:
- Whoah! 93 Points Wine Enthusiast
- Cabernet with a healthy dose of Syrah
- Arbuckle is a kind of big river rock soil - Saunders Vineyards Cab makes it rich
WINEMAKER: Scotty Saunders - 5th generation Paso Roblan
WHAT WE TASTED:
Unbelievably pretty and rich in the glass and carries all the way through. Super dark cherry married to milk chocolate and espresso nose. Weighty mouthfeel but super fine tannins. Richer dark berry, cocoa and graphite minerality from those rocks! Licorice whispers. Extracted, big flavor balanced with a pretty acidity.
PERSONALITY: Scotty's parents, Jim and Debi Saunders, started with Cabernet Sauvignon on the Saunders Vineyard in Paso Robles in 1992. After many years working in the vineyard and winery, Scotty produced his first official brand of wines, Arbuckle Ridge Winery. Named after the dominating soil type - Arbuckle, which is characterized as a magnesium-rich clay that is wonderful for moisture retention.
AVA DESIGNATED: Paso Robles, Central Coast
