Coombsville By the Glass Cab Gift Pack
WHY WE LOVE IT
A collection of our finest Cabernet's from Napa's newest AVA - Coombsville. Taste through an extraordinary sense of place. Organically farmed, small lot winemaking. There's a reason why this is the hot, new area for winemakers to put their artisanal style forward. A great gift too!
MAGNUS The Allure Cabernet Sauvignon, REWA Cabernet Sauvignon, DAYNA ESTATES Cabernet Sauvignon
1. MAGNUS The Allure
WHAT WE TASTED: Instant pop of dense berry then cigar box like notes kick in. Cassis in spades and not bowled over with excessive tannins. It is so elegant through the natural fermentation like a textured lattice that holds the fruit and lifts and carries you to each height of new taste revealed if you linger. Because it will indulge.
PERSONALITY: Magnus Wines are based in history; under new world terror. Magnus is a new brand that is the embodiment of an “alter ego.” Where we see dragons, the little girl inside in cape and mask is making it all happen. Try it. You’ll discover powerful dragons. And the pleasures of a vineyard's complexity revealing the magic of wildcrafted wines. Double Gold, The American Fine Wine Competition
2. REWA Cabernet Sauvignon
WHAT WE TASTED: Deep garnet color with aromas of blueberries, plum and warm cassis, with violets and cedar and earthiness. Rich, seductive. We hesitated to taste as we were still lost in the aromas. Lots of black fruit blend with the tannins and earthiness on that super long, fragrant finish. 96 Points, The Wine Advocate
PERSONALITY: The Legendary Celia Welch is winemaker. Some awards:
- 2008, Food & Wine’s Winemaker of the Year.
- 2006, Forbes.com “Top Ten Tastemaker”
- Inducted Winemaker’s Hall of Fame
3. DAYNA ESTATES Cabernet Sauvignon
WHAT WE TASTED: Great color and powerful nose - fruity, woodsy and vanilla. Wow! Juicy blackberries and chocolates flavors. Medium bodied, balanced alcohol and acidity. Lovely vanilla and pepper finish. 2017 so young - best to let rest for a minute in the glass.
