WINESMITH Cabernet Sauvignon, Santa Cruz Mountains
WHY WE LOVE IT:
- 4 generations have farmed this rugged, famous, award winning vineyard - Bates Ranch
- We’ve seen wine from this vineyard at $270 a bottle - this wine is a steal!
- Enjoy now or cellar for 10+ years
WHAT WE TASTED: Deep garnet color, a lovely pastiche of blackberry, currant, black plum, violets, pepper, smokey goodness. Did we mention plum, fennel, apricot, and coriander? Fine tannins on a long finish, not hot and oh so balanced.
